Become a masterful storyteller and build a deep connection with yourself and your audience This took me 3:11 to read There’s nowhere else you need to be right now. But if there is, put this away and go there now. Go do that thing with all your heart. If not, I’d ask you to put all the other tasks down. Take a deep breath. Slow down. Just be here with me. Your entire life is filled with getting to the next thing. There are no shortages of things to get to next. Is this how you want to spend your life? Phone in one hand while shoveling food into your mouth? Frantically reading this just to clear your inbox? I hope today’s article could be like us sitting on the couch, cuppa coffee in hand, our phone’s in the other room on do not disturb, and we’re sharing an intimate moment where each of us say at least one thing that sticks with us that we can bring into our life after we depart. And again, if we can’t, that’s okay. Please go do whatever else you have to do. But when you do that thing, I’d ask that you do it with your full presence and love too. Because that’s what I’d like to talk about today. If you continue to rush out the door for the next thing and the next thing you’ll never ever find what you’re truly looking for and I think, if you’re here reading my newsletter, you want to uncover your life’s work and learn how to fully express it and share it with the world. You want to become a Soul Creator. That feels like a really enjoyable satisfying life. Let’s go there now. If you could imagine a moment where you fully express exactly what you want to share from your Soul and it resonates with the world and completely transforms your life, what would be the flavor of that energy? Imagine that experience washing over your entire body. Life altering—holy shit it’s happening—moment. What might that feel like? Bliss? Excitement? Awe? Gratitude? Joy? Survey says… PING! All the above. Now if you could imagine sitting down and creating something like that, how do you think you might do it? With your right hand holding your phone and left hand shoveling food into your mouth? Or would it also filled with those same positive emotions? What percentage of your life would you attribute to having felt bliss? Standing in a spot and going, “I’m here! Holy shit!! All this work, the challenges, the ups and downs, I made it through and wow, I’m here!!” I can think of a few of those moments. Completing my bike ride across America was one. I just had one standing on the beach in Mexico this summer. If I could count the seconds I’ve felt bliss and divide it by the seconds I’ve been alive it’s gotta be far less than 0.01% of my life. I get a little bliss, then I’m off to the races again for the next thing. Bliss is not sustainable. You never arrive. You just have brief moments of arrival. What I want is way more of those moments. This is the art of being present. Since the start of reading self help books in 2015, I think I’m finally getting a hang of it. I’m learning how to have way more blissful moments of presence this year—even when shit is hitting the fan—and it’s helping me create my best work ever (Soul Creations) Here’s what’s been working for me. Think about all the things you want. Fine, I’ll speak for myself.
The 0.01% moments. Am I really going to wait for all this to feel bliss? Nah. Here’s what I’ve been doing instead. First, I own the fact that I want all this. Then I create a hypothesis on what I think will be a fun way to get there. There’s no right action, just a hypothesis of what might be a fun. Then I go take action. Then, I will be in the middle of the pursuit of one of these things and start to get a little giddy. Like, I’ll be flirting with a girl via text or I’ll be organizing a new module for my mastermind and just feel like I creating some absolute gold. This is when I catch myself and smile even bigger because THIS is it. I’m literally in the middle of the best parts of life. This is my bliss moment if I let myself feel it. Not waiting until my wedding or when the sales hit the bank account. No. It’s in the creation of it all. That moment when you’re a little giddy, energized, vibin. THAT is life. The more I practice noticing these moments, pausing, smiling and literally telling myself “THIS IS IT!!” the better I get at noticing more of them, pausing, smiling and experiencing that sacred feeling of bliss. Nowhere to be except right here. Here’s the crazy part. I went through a breakup this spring. One evening this summer I had a night where I was missing my ex. I was feeling lonely. It hurt. It was painful. I noticed that, paused and was like, “ohhh wow this is cool. This is the shitty part of life that make the good parts good. I’m in it right now.” Just for a moment, I wasn’t so sad. I wasn’t pretending to not be sad either. While I might not call it bliss, I genuinely felt grateful for my loneliness. It was profound. Actually, I take that back. It was practice. Practice is helping me rewire my unconscious brain to default to bliss. I am learning to be more present and I gotta tell you, it’s making life so fucking enjoyable. I’d like to leave you with this quote from the book Soulcraft by Bill Plotkin. The gift you carry for others is not an attempt to save the world but to fully belong to it. It’s not possible to save the world by trying to save it. You need to find what is genuinely yours to offer the world before you can make it a better place. Discovering your unique gifts to bring to your community is your greatest opportunity and challenge. The offering of that gift — your true self — is the most you can do to love and serve the world. And it is all the world needs. As we pursue becoming Soul Creators I think it’s wise to know, you may never get to express everything you desire to express and create the ultimate change you envision. I don’t now if you’ll ever get there and I don’t think you need to. I think the pursuit is required, but arriving there doesn’t actually matter. Bill says, all the world needs, your greatest gift, is your true self. What is your true self? It’s you discovering and learning what your true self is. It’s not, “This is my perfect true self. I did it. Now I can share it.” You’ll never share a single thing if that’s the case. You share the discovering and learning. That’s your true self. That’s your gift. And when you’re in the middle of feeling like you got something good, notice it, pause, take a deep breath, smile and allow yourself to feel the bliss, because you’re doing it. That’s your true self. That’s living, baby. Cheers, Matt

Become a masterful storyteller and build a deep connection with yourself and your audience This took me 3:48 to read In part 1, I spoke about shifting your intention to content creation. Release the safety of hating social media so much and just choose to get better. No more work required. No video editing tutorials. No stealing someone’s hook. Just a commitment that each video is going to be better than your last one. You’ll know what to do. If nothing else, I bet that’d be more fun than...
Become a masterful storyteller and build a deep connection with yourself and your audience This took me 3:37 to read I want to become a 100% Soul Creator. I think it’s the best thing in the world you could do for yourself too. We are pure creators in life. You are creating your reality every moment of every day with your thoughts and subsequent actions. You are the creator and your soul knows exactly what it really wants to create. It knows how to share with love. It knows how to resonate...
Become a masterful storyteller and build a deep connection with yourself and your audience This took me 3:38 minutes to read A few weeks ago I wrote I don’t think what makes you happy is just doing what makes you happy. What makes you happy is getting better at what makes you happy. I’ve had a few conversations lately with people at tennis stating that it’s impossible to not improve as long as you show up consistently and have the intention of improving. Even if you didn’t watch tutorials on...
