Hey Reader Since you're building a brand to change the world, you will love this video. Pair the framework in this video with the tips below and you'll be turning your most fun life into powerful stories that position you as a thought leader in your industry. If you understand this, you will never struggle thinking of ideas to share on social media again. If you struggle telling stories, just think of them as metaphors. They serve the same purpose which is to give your audience a chance pair their current understanding of something with a new understanding of something. It does no good to talk AT people, especially in your content. For example, say you are a Spanish teacher. If someone strongly believes they can't learn a new language, telling them, "Yes you can! The brain is neuroplastic no matter how old you are, which means it constantly rewires new neuropathways to adaptation. it has to do this for survival! You can learn a new language!!" doesn't work. Can't you feel that's like frustrated parent energy? You don't make people feel seen when you do this and they shut down. People don't want to change their beliefs because they have structured their whole identity around them. Instead, you could use a metaphor/tell a story and say, "Remember when we went to play pickleball yesterday and you kept hitting the ball in the net? Then by the end we were able to have long rally's because you weren't hitting the ball in the net?" This is the key... you get them nodding along and agreeing to you. Then you say, "Well that's the same thing as learning a new language. It's easier to learn pickleball because you wanted to get better and were having fun. Imagine if you walked on the court and said, 'I can't learn to hit a pickleball!' Don't you think you would have improved way slower if at all?" Now, they'd probably say, "I guess you're right, maybe I can learn a new language." BAM! There you have it. The only difference is, you are not having a two way conversation on social media. So instead of asking questions you would simply tell the complete story of how you watched your friend get better at pickleball because they (1) had a fun and (2) believed they could. Then you finish the video by making your point about learning a new language. The bonus factor is that you built a deeper connection with your audience because they also play pickleball. Just as friends bond over similarities, you just did that with your audience thus building deeper trust. So, if you watched the video, you see how pursuing your fun life is your greatest source of original ideas? If you love pickleball, go play more pickleball!! The brain gets squirts of dopamine by recognizing patterns so your. brain is looking to make connections in your life all the time. However, if you want to learn how to hone your creative craft for storytelling and metaphors, this is what I teach in the Art of Storyliving. Two things to point out:

Storyliving Pursue a fun life. Tell magnetic stories. Change in the world. Hey Reader If you are a podcast person, you can listen to me speak about today’s article in the latest episode. It’s not an exact transcription of what’s written here. Some things I say below are not included in the podcast and vice versa. Sometimes I write my articles, then create a podcast and sometimes a passionate podcast leads to a newsletter where my thoughts are more organized. They each have their own unique...
Storyliving Pursue a fun life. Tell magnetic stories. Change in the world. A 70-year-old family member expressed his fear of therapy. He didn’t want to spend the rest of his life drudging up old stories only to revisit past regrets or uncover he was a bad father. I shared a story with him that I hoped would resonate. When I got my first engineering job in New York City I was commuting from my parents house in Connecticut. Five o’clock traffic on the way home was my literal hell and if the...
Storyliving Pursue truth. Have fun. Tell stories. Change the world. It’s January, 2025, and I’m reflecting on my business and I’m not happy with the results. I left the corporate world seven years ago because I wasn’t passionate about my work, I didn’t think I was contributing any real meaning to society. Most of all, I felt like I was a shell of myself for 40 hours a week, every single week. Begging for the weekends when I could unleash my true self. I pursued entrepreneurship to go after my...
